Your Way to Rehabilitation

group

In-patient follow–up care and rehabilitation is possible for all families with children and teenagers, who are suffering from leukemia, malignant tumors, heart diseases or mucoviscidosis and those who are done with the initial intensive therapy in hospitals.

In order to ensure the success of the rehabilitation, we ask for the continuation of the oncologic and cardiological treatment and interventional therapy forms, like infusion, transfusion, antibiosis and continuous pain therapy. If needed, we ask for consultation with the doctor prior to a prescribed rehabilitation plan.

Upon admittance, the patients general condition should be stable enough that he or she will not be confined to bed.

Complications due to prior treatment of the patient, whether medical or psychological should be discussed before further treatment.

Application Procedure:

  • For a family-based or pediatric rehabilitation in the Children's Follow–Up Clinic Berlin-Brandenburg, you have to apply either through your health insurance (statutory basis § 40 section II SGB V) or your pension insurance institute (statutory basis § 31 SGB VI).
  • The health insurance and the pension insurance institute are equally responsible for processing the application, whereas the benefactor, which was contacted initially is obliged to handle the application.
  • In order to apply for cost absorption, you need a medical referral with the diagnosis and reasons why the whole family should be involved with the rehabilitation program. Particularly psycho–social treatments and rehabilitation goals for the sick child and the family members should be clearly defined.

Cancer patients from North Rhine-Westphalia need to apply through your health insurance at the “Arbeitsgemeinschaft der gesetzlichen Renten– und Krankenversicherung in Nordrhein Westfalen”. Patients with heart diseases or mucoviscidosis need to refer to their health insurance company or pension insurance institute.

Make sure that your entitlement to a continued payment of wages is ensured and that hospital and nursing charges will be paid for and that under certain circumstances an equity ratio has to be paid.

In case you have problems with the transition from the hospital to the rehabilitation clinic the “Deutsche Kinderkrebsnachsorge Stiftung” will, in exceptional cases, vouch with a deficiency guarantee for the sick child until the final financing with the benefactor is clarified.

The Children's Follow–Up Clinic is recognized by all benefactors and eligible for benefit. Patients that have private health insurance or are eligible for benefits, please contact the clinic directly.

Attention: The Clinic is not responsible for travel costs. Please refer to your insurance company for travel benefits.
