Nur miteinander kann es gelingen
Um mehr schwerkranken Kindern und Jugendlichen die notwenige Rehabilitation zu ermöglichen, möchte unsere Kindernachsorgeklinik ein neues Haus mit ca. 135 Betten in der Nähe von Berlin bauen. Nach dem Vorbild der Nachsorgeklinik Tannheim, die 1997 mit Hilfe der Deutschen Kinderkrebsnachsorge im Schwarzwald eröffnet wurde, soll diese neue Rehaklinik zur ersten Adresse für Nachsorgebehandlungen in den neuen Bundesländern werden und das Konzept der Familienorientierten Nachsorge mit allen therapeutischen Möglichkeiten umsetzen.
Children's Oncologic and Hematologic Diseases
Usually, children with oncologic illnesses have had to endure a long and strenuous combination of therapy. Tumors might have left the child with paraplegia, loss of extremities or neurological disorders and can be as straining as the effects from treatment, like sterility after bone marrow transplantations or hearing disorders after platinum–derivatives. The fear of relapsing is with the patients for years.Indications:
Indications for a family–based rehabilitation or rehabilitation in a group of teenagers or adults are:
Follow up care of all tumor and blood diseases of children and teenagers and for adults until the age of 25.
The oncologic illness of a child or a teenager poses a continual stress on the patient and his family because of the life threatening possibilities, the uncertain progression and the aggressive and long-lasting therapy. Reduction of time spent in the hospital and at the same time increasing the treatment requires a careful balance of treatment of the psychological and physical problems during the rehabilitation time. Additionally, there is need for transitioning for the family and patient.
Between and after stages of intensive chemotherapy and radiation, we offer an personalized therapy program with elements of our medical, therapeutical and psycho–social team, besides the family–based rehabilitation and maintenance treatment. This individualized plan helps to eliminate or minimize mental stress and to detect secondary damage early.

Eine familienorientierte Rehabilitation in der Kindernachsorgeklinik Berlin-Brandenburg muss bei Ihrer Krankenkasse oder Ihrem Rentenversicherungsträger beantragt werden. Es ist ein ärztlich-psychosoziales Gutachten mit Begründung für die Einbeziehung aller Familienmitglieder erforderlich.
